Hi guys,
sorry to disappoint you, but the Visionar is a 6 lens / 6 element Gauss type, where the usually cemented 2nd and 3rd element were split into single lenses to create further "air space" between the lenses which was be used to further correct and improve coma and astigmatism.
A scan of the cross section can be found on page 55 of the Carl zeiss Jena Yearbook 1960, Part 1, when this series of powerfull high aperture lenses was first announced. The top of the range Visionar is the 1 : 1,9 / 200 mm with a 4.1" front element, quite impressive.
The resolution of the Visionar is good enogh for high ISO digital Bodies, it is about 10 micrometer within the 20mm center circle and gradually falls off to 20 micrometer at the edge of a 30mm circle. It was designed for 35 mm projection (large cinemas, drive in typ etc.) format with approx 18 x 24 mm, half of the full frame Leica format.
